Next year’s Social Coast Forum will be held on February 5th to 8th, 2018, at the Francis Marion Hotel, Charleston, South Carolina.
Economic, social, and cultural values and beliefs greatly influence behavior and decision-making. Understanding people’s feelings and perceptions can have a tremendous impact on coastal management efforts. The Forum is a place to explore the “people” side of coastal management and specifically focuses on the application of social science to coastal management.
The plenary speaker will be Professor Richard Campanella, a geographer with the Tulane University School of Architecture and author of ten books and over 200 articles on the human geography of New Orleans and coastal Louisiana. His research integrates mapping sciences and spatial analyses with the social sciences and humanities.
