DC Download: January 2025

Jan. 8th 2025

On December 20, 2024, Congress passed a bipartisan continuing resolution to keep the federal government running and extend the deadline for passing the FY24 appropriations bill until March 14, 2025. Both the House and Senate appropriations bills include funding levels for operations that fall short of NERRA’s requested FY25 amount of $47 million. However, NERRA is advocating for the Senate’s NERRS operations funding level of $34 million and the House’s NERRS PAC funding level of $10 million.

Thank you to members of the NERRA Board members, friends groups, and foundations for expressing gratitude to members of Congress during the holiday season and to everyone who has shown their support for NERRA’s FY 2025 funding request and the work being done nationally and at each Reserve.

Congress has just over two months to finish the appropriations work for FY 2025 funding, while at the same time begin its work on FY 2026 appropriations. The NERRA Board has voted to request the funding needed to serve the public and efficiently operate each Reserve for FY 2026: $47 million for operations and $10 million for PAC. Thank you to the many individual and community voices affirming the value and benefits that the NERRS serve in your state and all around the country.

More updates on how to support Reserves and the national budget coming soon.
