In advance of the end of the federal fiscal year on September 30th, Congress passed a continuing resolution (CR) to extend the current budget through December 11, 2026. Signed by President Trump, the CR allows more time for Reserve supporters to reach out to key House and Senate members to request the higher funding levels needed for NERRS Operations.

In other DC news, Congress is joining Reserves and their communities in celebrating National Estuaries Week this month! Big thanks  to Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA) for leading a resolution designating September 20–27, 2025, as “National Estuaries Week,” and to Representatives Brian Mast (R-FL), Rick Larsen (D-WA), Mike Haridopolos (R-FL), and Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) for elevating the visibility of “National Estuaries Week” in the House.
