Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve protects parts of the largest estuary in the United States, which is home to green-backed herons, snowy egrets, and striped bass. Made up of 6,249 acres across three diverse sites, the Reserve works to improve understanding of estuaries and to promote the relevance and accessibility of estuarine research in the local communities and beyond.
