Located at the junction of Lake Superior and the St. Louis River, this Wisconsin Reserve is made up of 16,697 acres of diverse wetlands, scrub swamp, freshwater marshes, islands, forest, and beaches. Using a combination of research, outreach, and education, the Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve’s staff works in partnership to improve the understanding of Lake Superior’s coast and estuaries.
