Investing in Teachers and the Future

The Teachers on the Estuary (TOTE) program equips educators at every Reserve with the tools to bring hands-on, field-based science into their classrooms. Through TOTE, Reserves are strengthening STEM education, fostering environmental stewardship, and providing thousands of students with meaningful connections to the natural world each year.

TOTE’s impact extends beyond education—it’s an investment in economic resilience. By empowering students with science, technology, engineering, and math, we’re preparing them to contribute to a coastal workforce that supports sustainable industries, manages resources, and drives local economies.

In these videos, you’ll hear from Maine and New Hampshire teachers whose work has been enriched by TOTE. Their stories reveal why continued investment in these programs is important for our classrooms, communities, and coasts.
